Yunfu People's Hospital is a typical client of DBTwin Active-active Databae Cluster. It has been running DBTwin for more than five years since Mar, 2020.

Introduction to Yunfu People's Hospital

   Yunfu People's Hospital (https://www.yfsrmyy.cn) is the largest hospital in the Yunfu area in Guangdong Province, China, which is located in the center of the Yunfu city, Guangdong Province. In China,"三级甲等综合" which is translated as 'Third GradeClass A General Hospital' means the highest level in the rank of hospitals. It has a staff of about 1300, and the average daily outpatient volume is around 4000.

Before implementing DBTwin Active-active DatabaseCluster

In 2020, the hospital's core databases were facing the following problems:

A. HIS, LIS, EMR, PACS,RIS and many other small systems are all running on SQL Server.

B. All of them are running standalone, no HA/DR, only daily routine database backups.

C. The storage RAID 5 was the single failure point.

D. The consumption of CPU, Memory and IO was high.

After implementing DBTwin Active-active DatabaseCluster

In March 2020, after a long market research and technical discussion, the hospital decided to implement DBTwin Active-active Database Cluster. Following is the logical diagram of DBTwin AA Cluster.

Benefits from the implementation of DBTwin AA Cluster:

A. High Reliability: The single failure point has now disappeared. People in the hospital are now no longer worried about the sudden breakdown of thedatabase system including the database server, the storage system and the network etc. They don't worry any more about the risk of data loss because DBTwin provides them two real-time consistent datasets 7x24 round the clock.

B. High Availability: People in the hospital are now not worried any more about the downtime of their business due to the AA structure. In case one node was down,the other node would remain running without the risky process of cutting over.

C. High Performance: People in the hospital are now not worried any more about the performance of the databases due to the ARWSLB(AutomaticRead-Write Separation and Load Balance) capability of DBTwin. Many heavy select statements are automatically or half-automatically(through simple configurationin the DBTwin GW by DBTwin-specific commands) transferred to the secondary node, thus the performance stress of the primary node is greatly reduced.

CONCLUSION:The first client of DBTwin appeared in 2013. It is a medium sized hospital and they are still happily running DBTwin as usual. Since then, for more than 10 years DBTwin has been widely installed in all walks of life including hospitals, factories, colleges and governmental organizations. Up till now, DBTwin has accumulatively about 200 installed customers in China.
